It was in May of 1996 when Padraig Coffey from County Laois, thought it was about time that Playa Blanca should have its first Irish pub and so the Irish Anvil was born. This popular bar rapidly put itself firmly on the Playa Blanca map with it fun atmosphere and fine Guinness.

Padraig Coffey and Margaret opened their first bar in Portarlington Co. Laois in September of 1985, which was an instant success.  It’s a great place to meet with friends on a night out, to have a bite to eat at anytime of the day or simply a spot where you can read the newspaper whilst enjoying a pint of the black stuff. Both are family owned and run businesses.

At the Irish Anvil in Playa Blanca, you can find live Irish music 7 nights per week, the best Guinness on the Island, and great food and specials every night - you will want to make us your local pub away from home.

Live music has been a trade mark at the Irish Anvil and the beauty of the Irish Anvil is that whether you are 18 or 70 years of age, there is something here we can offer you, including traditional Irish music, as well as current hits. Families go down a huge hit here as there is so much we offer, whether it be the home cooked food, the use of our computers as well as free wi-fi access. We have a very safe terrace facing the sea were they can freely and safely run about and let the parents sit back relax and enjoy a few drinks in peace and quiet.

Refurbished in December 2005 the bar now portrays the new style Irish bar that we all know and love. The interior of our bar is air conditioned if you need to escape from the Lanzarote sunshine for a while, or our sun-baked terrace has the best views over the sea to Fuerteventura.
